Roflargh - Elemental Shaman Application

Postby Roflargh on Thu Jul 08, 2010 3:02 pm

RL Name: Marcus
Age: 18
Country: Sweden
Primary play times: 6pm-2am server time (but they are quite flexible)
Internet connection: (is it fast/slow, do you get any lag?) I'm on a 10 mbit line and hardly ever have a problem with it.
Computer: (please include your fps) Intel Quad Core 2.66ghz, Radeon HD 5770 1GB, 4gb ram and running Windows 7 64bit.
I have 40 fps in Dalaran with everything on max.

Character name: Roflargh
Character class: Shaman
Talent Spec: Elemental
Character level: (you must be level 80) Yes, I'm 80.
Your character’s Armory profile: (please include this as any apps posted without it will be locked)
http://eu.wowarmory.com/character-sheet ... n=Roflargh
Total /played time: 192 days in total, 54 days at 80.

Character tradeskill professions and levels: Herbalism/Alchemy 450
Notable patterns/formulas etc: I dont really feel there are any worth mentioning but I believe I've got all the research ones anyway.

Character WOTLK instance progress:
-Naxx10/25 - Cleared
-OS10/25 (3 Drakes on 10) - Cleared
-Malygos10 - Cleared
-Ulduar10 - Missing Yogg/Algalon
-Totc10/25 (and Totc10 heroic) - Cleared
-ICC10 - Done the first two wings as well as Valithria Dreamwalker on my paladin, I've read up on most though.

Character TBC instance progress:
-Karazhan - Cleared
-Zul'aman - Cleared
-Gruul's Lair - Cleared
-Serpentshrine Cavern - Cleared
-Tempest Keep - Cleared
-Mount Hyjal - Cleared
-Black Temple - Cleared

Previous guild(s): (names and reasons for leaving) Pie and Caek(very social guild, still talk to them alot) Open Face Surgery where I've done most of the pvp,
Big Naughty Dinosaurs and even Bovine Intervention at a point in TBC, I had to leave for personal reasons back then which are now fine.

Previous MMOG experience: Final Fantasy XI, Guild Wars(heh), Aion,

Previous gaming experience: Alot of old console games, Counter Strike, Starcraft, Diablo 2

Why you would like to join: After standing on the sidelines for quite a while now I feel I'm ready to get back into action and I know for a certain this would be the best place to do so.
It was a great guild when I was in it and I'm sure it still is (Well, that's kind of obvious considering how well you are doing!) and I'd like to raid with you guys again. I like a challenge and the feeling of progression and I know thats exactly what I'll find with you guys.
I realise I'm not amazingly geared and I have limited experience of the ICC content and 25mans(my silly old PC couldn't really handle them) but I believe I make up for it in the effort I put in and hopefully I'll get a chance to prove myself.

What are your goals in Wow: To just enjoy the game as much as I can really, which is why I'm applying

Please tell us a joke: My culinary skills for sure. :(

Thank you for looking into my application.

If we didn't get rofl in, we would be missing out a great player, gear is crappy but im sure we can fix that very quickly. Without a doubt deserves a chance :)

Indeed, I lack 25 man experience as I have not raided properly nor had the chance to do so in this expansion, mainly because my old Pentium 3 wasn't up to the challenge. Having 2 fps in a 25-man is not ideal and even the 10-man raids I've done have not been very enjoyable as I've still had a bit of lag in there on my old PC (I only just recently got a new one).

I would understand if I were to be declined based on lack of experience and gear but I am quite dedicated and would definitely like a chance to show it.

Thanks everyone for the input.

Being a well known and established pvp player, playing your shaman for years and getting these vouches makes me not worry about your skill at playing this game.

The lack of gear and experience ofcourse is a big consideration. We will have to discuss this and it being summer and the WC final sunday I hope you can have a little patience with us.

Have you ever done serious raiding in the past for an extended period of time? PVE def requires some skills not required for pvp and vice versa. Granted moving out of a 3sec voidzone is easier then fighting a player with about the same reflexes as yourself and is therefor considered easy. However I belief being reliable, understanding/researching pve mechanics, setting up your UI properly for PVE, communication, accepting others to be responsibile for your own succes, etc. requires just as much if not more work and dedication.

Especially in your situation (gear/XP) I hope you are up for it.

GL on your app.

Thank you for the input, you have brought up some very good points and I fully agree with you, I believe it requires alot of dedication from everyone and very good co-ordination/understanding of the fights to be successful. I have to say it's a great feeling when everything just flows perfectly and everyone putting in 100% effort and you finally get that boss down.
I have no problem speaking up during a fight if something needs to be said, if I've learned anything from PvP it's definitely that communication is key.

I played a mage mainly during Pre-TBC and raided quite alot on it for a long time so I understand that you need to put alot of dedication in and could be stuck wiping on a boss, but that is something I really do not mind. It makes it even more rewarding when you finally get it down(Ahh, Nefarian, lots of wipes there).

Thank you :)

I played with Rofl for a while during TBC and i shared at the time the same questions you do now. "He is a very good pvp player, but does he know how do PVE at our level?" and the answer was simple. He does. Very dedicated player, good sense of humor (essential to raid with BI at the time), good and fast learning skills and the most important characteristic for a BI player at the time...he could take an insult and be shouted at w/o whining whenever he fucked up (and to raid with me and harb....that was essential)

So, although my vouch worths for nothing at the time being....he gets my vote.
I am the Warrior.
Death is my business.
Be it yours...or mine.

i've known Roflargh as well since Tbc - theres one thing i would like to clear up mate first though , if you do get accepted you'll be abit of a "project" to gear up and get you ready for the current content, i would like to know that you have the time and effort to put into it during the gearing up phase and after as well - because the skill i know you have, i would like to know that you have the motivation as well.

Yeah, I definitely understand that as my gear is not quite up there. I do have the time and will to put alot of effort in and would love to see the latest and upcoming content together with you guys. Very much motivated!

P.S. Hey Golgar, haven't seen you in a long time, I see that you are currently retired which is a real shame as you are a great tank. Need to come back as soon as you can. Thanks alot for the positive comments as well.
